Bothell Needs You:  Get Involved!
By Council Member Patrick Ewing

We live in a great community. Bothell has top-rated schools, thousands of jobs provided by employers both large and small, beautiful parks and rivers, and terrific places for shopping and eating. This did not happen by chance. It happened due to wise decisions over the years that were based upon broad community involvement and input.

Many big decisions lay ahead. How should downtown redevelop? Should we move forward with annexations and building a new City Hall? And how do we fund it all while still keeping up our essential services such as police and fire, and of course, our roads, sidewalks, parks, and all other public services?

We need your help. I encourage you to get involved and offer your views. Information is available on our website, www.ci.bothell.wa.us, on BCTV Cable Channel 21/26, the Bothell BRIDGE Newsletter, as well as other news media. You can attend City Council and Planning Commission meetings. You can write or e-mail City Council and Planning Commission members. Or, you can take the ultimate plunge: there are four city council seats open for reelection this November and filing for office occurs early, May 13 -17.

Working together and creating a better relationship between our community and local government will provide the best environment for efficient, sound decision-making.
