Fire Systems & Fire Watches

When a building's safety system such as the sprinkler system or fire alarm stops functioning as it was designed, the Fire Prevention/CRR Office must be notified at least a day prior and a fire watch will be necessary during the hours of occupancy.

A fire watch is a person dedicated to monitoring a building or area at risk of fire. This could be when hot work is being performed, the alarm or sprinkler system has failed, or any time that a component of the fire system is out of service.

See our FAQ section below for details on notification procedures.
