Surface Water Management

Design Manual Update

The City is preparing to adopt the 2016 King County Surface Water Design Manual. We anticipate a draft to be released by early December with an effective date of Friday, December 30, 2016. We will continue to update this page with any drafts or changes.

General Program Overview

Surface water staff work to protect our local streams through storm system inspection, maintenance, construction oversight, stream monitoring, and education and outreach opportunities to foster healthy watershed stewardship.
To Report Illicit Discharges or Spills
Spills to our roads and storm drains are carried to local streams where they cause problems for people, pets, and the environment. Call us right away if you see a spill so we can clean it up before it causes harm.

If the spill is a direct hazard to human or environmental health, dial 911. Otherwise, contact the Public Works Department at 425-806-6750 (during the day you will be routed to our Maintenance and Operations staff and after hours you will be transferred to the Police Department non-emergency number) or via our online form on our spill page. Thank you for being a part of our efforts to protect our streams.
