Penn Park Reservoir Replacement

News and project updates

July 14, 2017

The contractor has finished disinfecting the tank, paving the roadway, path, and parking are, hydro-seeded several areas, and installed fencing around the reservoir and gate.

In the coming weeks, the contractor will install plants around the reservoir wall, test the master control panel and security camera, and apply coating to the reservoir's exterior.

Watch the mural take shape this summer

The finished tank will have a scenic mural painted on its exterior sometime this summer. We'll post the mural painting schedule on this page as soon as we have it. You might enjoy watching the mural take shape.

Project description

As part of the City's adopted Water Comprehensive Plan, we replaced the potable water storage tank located in Penn Park to double its storage capacity to one million gallons. The new tank is in the same location as the existing tank, but has a larger footprint. The estimated construction cost is $2.7M.

The former water tank served the area since 1960.

Public impacts

Penn Park is closed to users during construction. In the mean time, why not visit one of Bothell's other parks?

Construction began in late March 2016 and should wrap up in summer 2017.
