The City received three bids for this project at its May 10 bid opening. Dungeness Construction Corporation submitted the lowest bid of $197,934.
After we review the bid proposals and do reference checks, we'll recommend City Council award this contract at their regular meeting on June 6.
This project will provide a permanent sanitary sewer replacement for the affected homes located in the Promontory West subdivision. The existing sanitary sewer main, located along the northeast portion of the pedestrian trail near 102nd Ave NE, was damaged by landslide events. A temporary lift station has maintained sanitary sewer service for the affected homes since then.
We contracted with HWA GeoSciences to study the geologic aspects of the landslides. Then we hired Gray and Osborne as the City's design consultant, who proposed several design solutions. We looked closely at reliability, geotechnical concerns, maintenance, and cost. The proposed location of the replacement sewer main would minimize ground disturbances and tie into an existing gravity-fed sewer line.
The City has been in regular contact with property owners since 2013 to negotiate for the property rights, specifically a utility easement. Since we have acquired easements and finalized the design, we're ready to move forward with construction.
