There was a condemnation-related public hearing for this project on July 19, 2016. See the details.
This project would provide a permanent sanitary sewer replacement for the affected homes located in the Promontory West subdivision. The existing sanitary sewer main, located along the northeast portion of the pedestrian trail near 102nd Ave NE, was damaged by recent landslide events. A temporary lift station has maintained sanitary sewer service for the affected homes since then.
We contracted with HWA GeoSciences to study the geologic aspects of the landslides. We then hired Gray and Osborne as the City's design consultant, who proposed several design solutions. We looked closely at reliability, geotechnical concerns, maintenance, and cost. The proposed location of the replacement sewer main would minimize ground disturbances and tie into an existing gravity-fed sewer line.
The City has been in regular contact with property owners since 2013 to negotiate for the property rights, specifically a utility easement. Pending these easements, the project will receive final design review, then will be advertised for construction bids.
