Northbound Interstate 405 experiences heavy congestion, especially in the Bothell area during the afternoon commute. With funding from I-405 toll revenue, Washington State Department of Transportation plans to build a new northbound peak use shoulder lane (also known as hard shoulder running) between State Route 527 and I-5, which will provide new capacity for general purpose traffic during the afternoon rush hour. Construction is currently scheduled to start in 2017. We invite the public to an open house to learn more about these I-405 improvements.
