Bothell, Wash. - The City of Bothell Landmark Preservation Board proudly unveils a pictorial history book of Bothell titled "then & Now." It features historical stories and photographs that have been collected since the 1990s. The book also comes with a DVD of Bothell's history, entitled "Bothell: A Sense of Time and Place." Highlights include Main Street, details about homes on the historic register, information on Sammamish River Boat Racing, a picture of Bothell High School's first graduating class, and facts about the Bothell tree that was once named the world's largest living Christmas tree.
The City will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2009; the Landmark Preservation Board produced the book as a gift to the City in honor of its Centennial. Each book costs $20 (including tax) and can be purchased at Bothell City Hall (18305 101st Ave. NE), the Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce (10017 NE 185th St.) or the Bothell Historical Museum (9919 NE 180th St). The "Then and Now" book will also be available for check-out at the Bothell Regional Library (18215 98th Ave. NE).
"This project would not have been possible without the many photographs loaned to us by our valuable local resource, the Bothell Historic Museum, as well as many historical accounts and other photographs obtained from local citizens," said Landmark Preservation Board Chair Davina Williams Duerr. "I am proud to present the culmination of more than 10 years of work, "Then & Now."
"The City of Bothell is grateful for all of the dedication that the Landmark Preservation Board has put into this project," said Community Development Director Bill Wiselogle. "Their efforts have resulted in a beautiful book that helps celebrate all that we have in Bothell and commemorates a special time in Bothell"s history for the next 100 years."
The Board printed 1,850 books. Book sale funds are intended to cover the approximate $33,000 design and printing cost.
