Welcome to the Permit Center

The Building and Permit Services Division is composed of the Protective Inspections, Permit Services and Code Enforcement Sections.

The Protective Inspections Section is responsible for reviewing applications for building, plumbing, and mechanical permits, field inspection of all building related construction projects, damage assessment following natural disasters, and code enforcement for zoning, land use, and construction related activities.

Permit Services coordinates and manages the processing of all land use, building and public works permit applications, provides project coordination for single-family, multi-family and commercial building (including tenant improvement) permits for new construction and remodels; franchise right-of-way projects; and land use applications such as planned unit developments, conditional use permits and subdivisions.

Permit Technicians are on hand to assist you from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The Permit Center is located at 9654 NE 182nd Street.  Appointments are required for most permit application submittals. Contact a Permit Technician at permitsvcs@ci.bothell.wa.us or 425.486.8152.

Inspection requests can be made through the City of Bothell Inspection Request Line at 425.489.3390 or on line at www.MyBuildingPermit.com.  

All requests will be logged and assigned to a City Inspector. If the request is received by 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, an inspector be will respond to the site within 24 hours (subject to change).

Construction Noise

Construction noise is limited to Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., with the exceptions of:

1. Highway construction; and

2. Sounds originating from residential property relating to temporary projects for the maintenance or repair of homes, grounds, and appurtenances between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. any day of the week;

3. Nothing herein shall be construed to limit or prohibit different or more restrictive hours for any work authorized under a development permit issued under any chapter of this code as may be specified in any determination or decision issued under BMC Title 8.26.060.

Licensing Requirements

Bothell Business License           

Before the City of Bothell can issue a permit, we require the contractor to have, or apply for, a City of Bothell business license. To apply for a City of Bothell business license, a business license application form may be completed and accepted (with associated fees) at the Community Development Department located at 9654 NE 182nd St., or at the Finance Department located at 18305 101st Ave. NE. Please contact Community Development at 425.486.8152 with any questions regarding new business licenses.

General Contractors State License           
In addition to obtaining a City of Bothell business license, the contractor must provide the City of Bothell Community Development Department with a notarized copy (a statement and seal by a notary that verifying the copy is a true and correct copy of the original) of their current general contractors state license, or the contractor may bring in their original state contractors license and the city can make a copy from the original at the Community Development Department.
     
Owner Exempt from license requirements 
When the scope of work being permitted is to be done by only the property owner without the use of a contractor, no licenses are required to be obtained.

Business Licensing Agencies
