Bothell Fire Chief to retire, Deputy City Manager leaving for Albany, OR position

Fire Chief Bob Van Horne has announced his retirement, effective May 15, after 36 years in the fire service. Chief Van Horne has been Bothell's Fire Chief since 2009. He has served a total of 36 years in the fire service.

The City has engaged a search firm to manage the selection process for a new Fire Chief. Interested parties must apply by June 2. Deputy Chief Jim Roepke will be interim Fire Chief.

Deputy City Manager Peter Troedsson has accepted a position as City Manager in Albany, Oregon. Troedsson has served in Bothell since 2014, after a 30-year career in the Coast Guard.

His last official day with the City of Bothell is May 12. Public Works Director Erin Leonhart will be serving as interim Assistant City Manager.
