Mathew Pruitt becomes City of Bothell’s new Human Resources Director

Mathew Pruitt

Mathew Pruitt, a Kirkland resident with nearly 14 years of experience in human resources at a variety of levels of government, will become the City of Bothell’s new Human Resources Director effective Dec. 27.

“Matt has a passion for local government service and human resources specifically,” said Jennifer Phillips, City Manager at the City of Bothell. “He selected the City of Bothell because he could see the opportunity to lead change and continue to build a top notch Human Resources Department for the City.”

Pruitt will oversee the City of Bothell’s four-member Human Resources Department, providing centralized oversight and administration of City compensation and benefits, employment policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.

“It’s all about Bothell for me,” said Pruitt. “I think what’s going on in the City is really exciting. I want to be a part of that team and I know we will do a lot of great things together.”

Pruitt is currently the Human Resources Manager at Alderwood Water & Wastewater District, where he has worked since 2009. His prior experience includes serving as HR/Risk Manager for the City Stanwood. He also spent almost three years in Washington, D. C. working for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and as staff assistant to the Committee on Ways and Means for the U.S. House of Representatives. He began his career in public service as a legislative aide for the Metropolitan King County Council and the Washington State House of Representatives.

Pruitt earned a Bachelor Arts in Political Science from University of Washington and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Seattle University.

The City selected Pruitt after a nationwide recruitment that netted 50 applications.
