[ARCHIVED] Help name the City of Bothell’s newest park

Wayne Open Space

The City of Bothell wants help from the community to name Bothell’s newest park, the former Wayne Golf Course purchased by the City in December. People can submit suggestions at www.bothellwa.gov/wayne or in person at City Hall’s Customer Service Desk until February 28.

The Parks and Recreation Board will review name suggestions at their 7 p.m. meeting on March 8 at City Hall. The public is welcome to attend. The Board will develop one or more recommendations for the City Council. The City Council is scheduled to consider park names at the April 3 Council Meeting at 6 p.m. in City Hall.

Names must be based on:

CriteriaExample
Neighborhood or geographical identification
Royal Oaks Park
Historical or cultural significance
Park at Bothell Landing
Individual (living or deceased) who has made significant land, monetary or civic contribution to the park system OR gave their life while serving in the US military
1st Lt. Nicholas Madrazo Memorial Park
Historical figure
William Penn Park

Parks are named for a minimum of 25 years.

The new park is nearly 90 acres and contains rolling hills, walking paths, forested areas, the Sammamish River and Waynita Creek, and has plenty of local wildlife. It is adjacent to Blyth Park, the Sammamish River Trail and the Burke-Gillman Trail.
