The City of Bothell Arts Commission invites you to enjoy a new exhibition by Megan Eckman at City Hall, 18415 101st Ave NE in Bothell through Oct. 19. The exhibition is open during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
Eckman developed a series of kaleidoscopic portraits, “Flatteringly Flat,” that revel in the aesthetic interplay of pattern on pattern. Inspired by the visual space created by a similar pattern play in John Everett Millais’ ‘Isabella,’ her work adds a contemporary touch through modern hairstyles and clothes. The portraits showcase the beauty of the repetition that can be found all around us, from the stripes in our clothes to the tresses of our hair.
Eckman graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2009 with degrees in drawing and creative writing. She lives in Vancouver, WA.
The City of Bothell Arts Commission selected Eckman and three other artists from more than 100 applicants to display their work in the Bothell City Hall Gallery.
