[ARCHIVED] Officers Recover Stolen Car (and much more) - Thanks to Alert Neighbor

On Tuesday, January 4, in the 220000 block of 18th Ave SE, Bothell Police recovered a stolen vehicle, along with a stolen credit card, a broken safe and a credit card reader. The devices are often used by thieves to duplicate stolen debit cards, credit cards, hotel room key-cards and more.Four Bothell Police officers pictured in front of patrol vehicles

While examining the stolen vehicle in the Canyon Park neighborhood,  Officer Adam Thorvilson spotted another suspicious vehicle very close by.  It had a stolen license plate.  The driver in that vehicle sped off as officers approached.  Officers initially followed, but in the interest of public safety, terminated the pursuit.

That vehicle was a black Subaru Impreza, with a passenger rear wheel that appears to be tilted or broken. Anyone with information can call the Bothell Police at 425-428-1254.

Officer Thorvilson says thanks to the alert neighbor, the recovered vehicle, which was reported as stolen in Seattle,  will be returned to it’s rightful owner.  Listen to what the officers have to say.

It serves as a good reminder: If you see something, say something.

Auto theft is sharply on the rise, across Washington state and the nation.

Help prevent auto theft:

  • Lock your doors
  • If you have your own garage, use it.  It’s the best place to park your vehicle.
  • Park in well-lit areas, where suspicious activity could be easily noticed
  • Don’t leave running vehicles unattended.  Car thieves are on the lookout for people who leave their cars to warm up, unattended.   Even two minutes is too long.
