[ARCHIVED] Bothell Police Seeks Information About Suspect in Case that Triggered Amber Alert

Three year old Faith Collinsthree year old little girl in carseat is unharmed and doing well, after surviving quite an ordeal.  Just after midnight, on Tuesday, April 5, the little girl was asleep in her car seat when a thief stole her mother's car from the parking lot of the Heritage Park Apartments, located at 9834 NE 190th street.

The child's mother left the vehicle running and unlocked, while she helped her sleepy, older child walk from the car to the family's apartment unit.  She was on her way back to the vehicle to get her sleeping three-year old from her car seat, when she heard the sound of screeching tires.  She realized, with horror, that someone was stealing her car - and her child along with it.

The mother called 911, and Bothell Police dispatchers immediately alerted officers.  Within moments, officers were searching for her child and stolen vehicle, and gathering information to launch the Amber Alert notification system.

The 2001 Honda Accord was located, with the child still inside, later that morning in a Snohomish County neighborhood near the intersection of 227th Place SE and 38th Avenue SE. As the neighborhood is located outside Bothell city limits, Snohomish County deputies responded, when someone in the neighborhood spotted the vehicle and called 911.  The child was physically unharmed, but frightened.  She was quickly reunited with her mother.

It appears likely that the car thief did not realize there was a sleeping child in the vehicle, and "ditched" the 2001 Honda accord minutes after stealing the car.

Bothell Police detectives are investigating the case and want to find the suspect who stole the vehicle and put a child's life in danger. surveillance video of suspect

Investigators are asking the public to take a close look at surveillance video from two different cameras at the Heritage Park Apartments.  The videos show the same suspect, a white male, 25 - 35 years old, 5'7" - 5'10" tall, medium build. Taken together, these videos provide some good information about the suspect's clothing, shoes, gait and mannerisms.  They also reveal that the suspect was lurking around the Heritage Park Apartments at 11:15pm on Monday, April 4,  possibly even earlier.  Apartment residents may have witnessed the man in the area.  People may have seen him arriving on foot, or in a vehicle.

If you think you recognize the man in the video, or believe you have additional video or information that is relevant in this case;  please call the Bothell Police non emergency line: 425.486.1254.  If you know the man or have information on his immediate location, call 911.
