Advisory Committee Members Needed for Pop Up Retail Program
May 11, 2021 - Bothell City Council has recently approved a new?Pop Up Retail Incubator Program designed to support the creation of new small businesses and provide more opportunities for minority and woman-owned businesses.
Funded in part by the Port of Seattle Economic Development Partnership grant, the City has also partnered with Mercy Corps Northwest to deliver this program. Mercy Corps Northwest is a global organization dedicated to transforming lives and creating lasting change, and will serve as the City’s training and financial support partner.
Entrepreneurs and home-based businesses often face many barriers in launching a brick and mortar business. The program will offer resources, microfinancing, mentoring and education to minority and woman-owned
small?businesses. In addition to these resources, selected entrepreneur businesses will be offered low-cost retail space in repurposed garden sheds right in the heart of downtown Bothell next to City Hall. More details about the program and how businesses can apply will be released soon. The City is forming a temporary (ad-hoc) advisory committee now to:
- Advise the program manager and city staff on the program
- Help decide?what type of retail and businesses should be included
- Help name and promote the retail village
- Participate in the future review and selection of entrepreneur applications?
Advisory Committee members:
- Must be Bothell residents, business owners, employees, or business mentors
- Should represent or have insight into woman or minority-owned businesses??
- Should not?be?personally or professionally associated with potential entrepreneur applicants?
- Be able to attend six meetings over the next three months??
