911 outage updateProgress is being made to restore 9-1-1 service in King County. The CenturyLink network outage that affected emergency calls nationwide is being addressed, and 9-1-1 calls are again getting through. However, residents are urged not to “test” the system. Do not call 911 unless you are having an emergency. There may still be intermittent issues, so if a 9-1-1 call does not go through, call 425-486-1254 in Bothell or use a cell phone to Text-to-911.
The City has posted details in an Emergency Alert on the home page.

Safe & Secure Bothell updateWe’re working hard to bring you public safety improvements you voted for this fall: - Demolition and replacement of the Canyon Park and Downtown fire stations
- More police officers, firefighters and other public safety professionals
What’s new? The City is hiring a project manager for the design and construction of the new Canyon Park Fire Station (#45). Design work on the new Downtown Fire Station (#42) will begin in late 2019. The City has hired six new firefighters who will graduate from the fire academy by mid-2019. Hiring police officers is a long process that can take up to 18 months. The City has begun actively recruiting candidates with the goal of hiring at least five officers this year, making the Navigator mental health professional program permanent, and recruiting for the other public safety professionals. City Manager Jennifer Phillips is developing a detailed implementation plan that will include accounting of both levy and bond funds and will present it to City Council in February. This is an exciting time for Bothell and we promise to keep you informed. Thanks again for your support. Get more information

Call if you can, text if you can'tText to 911 now available The Text-to-9-1-1 service is now available in King County. Text-to-9-1-1 allows direct access to 9-1-1 for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech disabilities. This technology also provides other access options for people in situations where it is unsafe to make a phone call, such as a home invasion or domestic violence. Suicidal persons are also more likely to text than to make an actual phone call. Also, in disaster situations or low cell coverage situations, texts will often get through when voice calls cannot.
There are currently twelve 9-1-1 centers in Washington state that are accepting texts to 9-1-1 including Snohomish County.
