Bothell's response to Snowmageddon

by Mayor Andy Rheaume

Thanks to all of you for heeding the City’s warnings and staying off the roads during Snowmageddon, the largest snow accumulation in 50 years. We’re fortunate that there wasn’t any uptick in accidents or aid calls in the City of Bothell during the historical snow storms. I received no calls or complaints from residents throughout the two-week period, evidence that our community and our crews did a great job weathering the storm and responding to needs. See the full column, including statistics on the snow response.

Safe & Secure Bothell update

Our new firefighter recruits are heading into their eighth week at the fire academy! In addition to classroom instruction, the 13-week academy includes intensive training in the fundamentals of firefighting. So far, a few areas of focus:

  • Hazmat
  • Live fire scenarios
  • Hose deployment skills
  • Ground and aerial ladder operations
  • Search & Rescue techniques

.

New fire stations coming

A search for a construction project manager is underway. Once that person is selected, project plans and schedules for razing and rebuilding Stations 45 (Canyon Park) and 42 (Downtown) will begin. Our goal is to break ground on Station 45 in spring 2020.

Check out the new signs at the existing stations and watch for updates online.
