Parks & Recreation Improvements Start with You

What would you like to see in our parks and recreation system now and in the future? Do the current facilities meet your and your family’s needs? Do our existing parks and programs enhance and promote the unique character of our city? These and many other questions and issues will be discussed in a series of community meetings about Bothell's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Action Program (PROSAP) that will continue in June.
The City is required to have a parks, recreation and open space Program to remain eligible for state and federal grants but, more importantly, to guide the future of our developing parks and recreation system. The current PROSAP was adopted in 2008 and is scheduled to be updated this year. The updated plan will provide direction for the growth of parks and recreation over the next several years. Community participation is a key component in this process.
Projects listed in the adopted 2013-2019 Capital Facilities Plan and planned in the near future include: the Park at Bothell Landing, 1st Lt. Nicholas Madrazo Memorial Park in the North Creek Business Park, continued land acquisition in the North Creek Forest open space, the half-acre open space park planned as part of the downtown redevelopment, improvements at the North Creek Schoolhouse (Centennial Park), and the final segment of the North Creek Trail. Most of these projects have some funding, but not enough to complete the entire project, and other projects included in the current plan have no funding. Prioritization of projects and proposed funding alternatives will be an important part of the discussion.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will also be very involved in the process and wants to hear from residents regarding the future of parks and recreation in our community.
