EC-Hearing (Electronic Court Hearing)

  1. Electronic Hearing Instructions
Individuals who wish to mitigate or contest their City of Bothell infraction may submit an electronic statement in lieu of appearing in person. If you are currently scheduled for a hearing, this electronic form must be received by the clerk at least one (1) business day before the hearing. No appeal may be taken from the result of this electronic hearing.
  2. Deferred Finding
A deferred finding may be granted once every seven years for a moving violation and once every seven years for a non-moving violation. If you have a CDL you are not eligible for the deferred finding program. The infraction will be dismissed and will not appear on the DOL abstract with full compliance with the deferred finding program. Failure to comply will result in a finding of committed, imposition of the full original penalty amount and notice to DOL which may result in a suspension of the driving privilege. Failure to pay may result in referral to a collection agency.
  3. Mitigation
By requesting a mitigation hearing, you have already agreed that you committed the infraction(s) but wish to explain the circumstances and request a reduction in the monetary penalty. Infractions designated as "traffic" will be reported to the Department of Licensing. The court may allow time payments or reduce the penalty where allowed by law.
  4. Contested
If you believe you did not commit the infraction(s), you may request a hearing to appear in person. At the hearing, the City must prove by a preponderance of the evidence (more likely than not) that you committed the infraction. You may require witnesses, including the officer who issued the notice, to appear at this hearing. The Court will notify you in writing of the hearing date.
  5. Bothell Youth Court
Are you a high school student? You may qualify for entry into the Bothell Youth Court and potentially have your case removed from your driving record. Please contact the court at 425-487-5587 before your scheduled hearing to see if Bothell Youth Court is right for you.
